The Muslim Community Center of Portland (MCCP) has a long history of providing assistance within and outside the Muslim community. Founded in 1973, MCCP is comprised of a diverse mix of ages and ethnicities, and has pioneered interfaith dialogue including reaching out to elected officials.
MCCP also supports and participates annually in the Day of Dignity. This event of 10 years provides meals, personal hygiene packages, clothing, as well as health screenings, haircuts and distribution of seasonal items for the homeless and those in need. Annual soup kitchens and distribution of clothing are also provided by MCCP through the Oregon Food Bank.
