Muslim Community Center Integrity Charter

The Muslim Community Center of Portland, (MCCP), is an Islamic organization and Masjid where all Muslims are welcome to gather for congregational prayer, learning, and community building.

The Mission of MCCP is to:

1) Establish and promote Quranic community life, and

2) Develop Islamic institutions that are established according to the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, (SAWS).

It should be noted that the MCCP is the first community of Muslims to establish a Masjid in Oregon. As descendants of African people and people of the Diaspora, the original members of MCCP collectively entered into Islam under the leadership of Imam Warith Deen Muhammad in 1973. This was preceded by the Founder of the Nation of Islam, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. In staying true to the core principles of the Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) as an organization and Masjid to provide Islamic and cultural heritage as well as historical consciousness.

The MCCP Charter is to continue to maintain its fidelity both Islamically and culturally so that the original intentions of our predecessors and leaders are honored in the generations to come. It is imperative that the MCCP ensure the leadership and guidance of our Masjid, Community Center, and Board of Trustees maintain a solid foundation in the Noble Quran and Prophetic teachings while preserving the rich African American heritage and leadership of the community. May Allah continue to guide our organization and leadership.
