MCCP meeting this Saturday November 17 at 1pm to discuss Masjid protocol for Jumu’a services

As-salamu alaykum dear MCCP community members,

There will be a MCCP Majlis meeting this Saturday November 17th at 1:00pm to discuss protocols for Jumu’a services. All community members are welcome and we encourage you to bring your ideas and suggestions.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is reported to have said “I was sent for the expressed purpose of perfecting good character.”

Due to space consideration and the amount of time and noise when believers are leaving Salat-ul-Jumu’a, and the presence of sisters and children, we are instituting an exit protocol following the Jumu’a salat. Unless you need to speak to Imam Najieb or Imam Shabazz, or are performing your Sunnah prayer, or are having business with brother Yohannes, please clear the lobby area. We need as much silence as possible. (Note you can also make an appointment with either of the two Imams at the Masjid office.)

We are requesting that conversations be moved to the outside walk area where you can also purchase a lunch. This is not meant to point fingers, just to maintain order. This is a temporary protocol until further notice.

Believers, please be conscious of Allah’s (SWT) presence when attending Jumu’a services.

Yours in service to Islam,

Shaheed Haamid
Muslim Community Center of Portland
Executive Office of Imam
